I am 74 years old and have been a resident of the Mt. Morris and the Clio area since 1947. I graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1961 and immediately went to work for Chevrolet Metal Fabricating and moved to Buick Motor Division in 1967 where I worked as a die maker until June of 1970.
I became a captive insurance agent for Farmers Insurance Group in 1970 and opened an office in Mt. Morris across from the old Hamady Brothers grocery store on Saginaw Street. In 1981, I opened an Independent Insurance agency on Clio road near Meadowbrook Lane in the front office of Murany’s Collision Shop.
My wife, Dianne, and I have been married for over 52 years, raising two children -Bradley who has worked with me in the agency for the last 28 years and Jennifer my youngest, who resides in North Carolina with her husband Terry Hobson.
I love the Lord Jesus Christ whom I have served for over 60 years at Home Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Morris, MI. I love to sing (hymns mostly), build and Buick race cars and have been an avid deer hunter for decades. My wife and I plan to travel more in the coming years now that I am able to enjoy more time away from the office.
I served on the Vienna Township Business Development Authority for eight years and was the Chairman for the last 3 years before leaving the Authority in January of 2015. My term with the BDA was very gratifying because I had never been involved in public service before and we accomplished so much to make Exit 131 and Vienna Township an enjoyable place to visit and do business during my term.
Being an agency principal, employing a staff of very competent people, I now have the luxury of working a limited schedule at the office. I still enjoy resolving problems as we face the challenges of doing business in the most competitive market place I have ever encountered in my 48 years in the insurance industry.
Retirement? Ah, maybe later!
