Well is it? Is your home ready for the next big storm?

Maybe you were blessed if the recent storm missed your home. We were. What makes me think of this topic is the recent tornado that ripped through the Millington area. I drove through the area last week and it’s still a mess. People are still cleaning up and making repairs to their homes and property.

Of course there’s not much you can do if a tornado is headed directly for your home other than take immediate shelter. However, you can be prepared for long power outages with a generator, flashlights, tarps, food and water stored in advance, etc. This is something my husband and I talk about all the time but have yet to secure a definite plan. We have a few things in place, but we are no where near where I’d like to be.

Here’s a short list of home preparations you can start on now:

Prepare Your Home for Storm Season

Do you have a whole-house generator currently installed? That’s a great start if you do! Even owning a regular portable generator is a definitely a bonus!

If you have a whole-house generator, please give our office a call to go over your homeowners insurance policy. There may be a credit available, depending upon which insurance carrier you are with. Also, you will want to be sure to add the cost of the unit to your Homeowner’s Policy, Coverage A amount.  If the generator should sustain damage you will want to be sure to have adequate protection to replace or repair it.

If you do not have your homeowner’s insurance with us, we would be happy to provide you with a quote! You can request a quote below, contact us through facebook (please like our page!), or simply call our office. Call 810-686-1470!
